Welcome back to blogging
WELL, HELLO FRIENDS
It has been about 3 years, 11 months and 29 days since I last decided to blog. I think there was one “maybe I’ll blog again” post in between there right before my daughter, Costine, came into the world, but other than that — this whole realm has been off my radar and with great purpose.
What have I been up to?
Let’s see… 3 years, 11 months and 28 days ago I had a baby boy who is turning 4 YEARS OLD this very weekend. He was and is super cute and fun but also, ended up being quite a lot of work (who knew?!).
Similarly, 4 years, 0 months and about 16 days ago a friend and bad ass approached me with an opportunity to co-found a marketing agency with her and I said yes. Which again… super cute and fun but lots of work.
Fast forward one more baby (and a half), buying a home, helping Ben start another business, keeping a few chickens alive, a few good trips and all of the other fun things we’ve been doing… blogging has not been a priority. Hard to believe i’m sure.
I choose this life every day. I am energized by it (and simultaneously depleted, but isn’t that how all good things go?). I am fulfilled by every facet of my days in very different ways but I have had a little piece missing… and that is a little creative outlet of my own. A place where there is no deadline, no brand guide, no one else to make happy — just a spot to explore, write, collect my thoughts, curate and hopefully — connect.
SO HERE I AM
Just a girl… standing in front of a blog…
In all seriousness(ish), I picture this blog being less of a DIY and design space like it was before and more a reflection of what my life looks like now:
How to be a balanced working mom (still figuring it out)
What my version of modern homesteading looks like (still figuring it out)
What I do to keep my family’s home feeling welcoming and styled amidst the chaos (still figuring it out)
How do I take care of myself and where do I make time for it? (still figuring it out)
What kind of cocktails I like to drink and share with my friends (I pretty much know this one by heart)
And even where you can find the things that I buy for my own home
So I suppose it’s decided then. This will be a space where I can mostly just figure it out. Hopefully you can too and this will be a thing we do together.
I have noticed that with the rise of my deep and deliciously lusty obsession with Instagram, I am missing out on a lot of the comradery of the good ol’ blogging days.
Where I now pop in and out of the Insta like a friend who kind of cares but really just wants to hang out with the person right behind you, I used to sit. And read. And soak in. And engage… with women around the country and the world on a weekly basis. Many of whom I still keep in touch with today.
Where I now post one image and write a quick caption to share a snapshot of my day, I used to sit. And write. And reflect. And assess. It was a huge part of clearing my head, setting goals, making progress and dreaming.
So I’m getting back into it. And I appreciate you reading this and perhaps even caring a bit.
MY ONE REQUEST
For those of you who are excited about following along. Welcome!
I hope that you don’t stay quiet. I would love to hear from you, to have a conversation, to hear how YOU are doing your crazy life and hopefully learn and grow alongside each other.
The good Lord (and anyone who I text remotely regularly) knows that it is haaaaaaaard as hell to get a “let’s have a glass of wine just the two of us” on the books. So maybe we could chat here and share dreams and visions and even some of the boring daily grind stuff too because… we’re simply not the only ones on this road. So let’s not act like it.
The first few posts I have started writing have to do with All the podcasts I have been listening to on my commute, 10 ways I optimize my working mom day-to-day, how our chickens have been doing and how we are looking at expanding our little homestead this year and a tour around my home with lots of good links to where I find everything (most asked question on Insta hands down).
Anything else? What do you want to talk about? I’m here for it.
And if you are too, pop your email in below and I’ll let you know when said blog posts launch.
Talk to you then!
